Our Scholarship Auction

The 26 th annual Karl Roden Memorial Scholarship Auction was held on Saturday September 30th, 2006 beginning at 11:00am at the Mensa Region 3 Regional Gathering, Holiday Inn, Hudson, OH US. Thanks to the Auction Chair Katie Hayes for all the tremendous efforts she put in to obtaining donations for the auction and keeping everything organized! As always, all the proceeeds of the auction go to current and future Karl S. Roden Scholarship awards.

Thank you to Connecting Touch Therapy & Wellness Center, Inc. for providing copying, paper and address labels free of charge!

Thanks to Alma Houston for putting together some beautiful baskets for the auction.

And thanks to both Alma and Sparrow for pulling a (nearly!) all-nighter at my house Thursday preparing for the auction.

Lots of great items were donated, including:

  • 2 tickets to a Coach House Theatre 2006-2007 production
  • 2 tickets to any 2007 Columbus Crew regular season game
  • one registration to CAM's 2007 RG!
  • $50 Bob Evans gift card
  • 2 passes to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium
  • OSU Happy Feet Slippers donated by Mark and Rita Barbee
  • Stagecoach Antiques donated an antique silver plate covered vegetable bowl with Pyrex glass insert and elegant monogram, and in addition, a Mikasa Fresh Meadow Yellow Flowers Dish Set of 8 dinner plates and 8 salad/dessert plates
  • Basket donated by America's Hobby House: $25 gift certificate, martini chillers, bar tool set, martini mister, decorative vinegar. $100 value
  • 2 ticket vouchers for an April or May 2007 game from the Akron Aeros.
  • Gift pack from the Cleveland Browns, including T-shirt, autographed hat, and a tote bag.
  • Two VIP tickets to the Barcelona Exhibition: Barcelona! Dali Picasso, Gaudi, Miro at the Cleveland Museum of Art October 15, 2006-January 7, 2007
  • A Director's Pass good for 2 admissions to any performance of any play during the 2006/2007 season at Actors' Summit Theater in Hudson.
  • A voucher good for 2 tickets for any Friday or Sunday Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Classical Concert, donated by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
  • 3 General Admission Passes from COSI-Columbus
  • Gift certificate from Argosy Casino and Hotel, valued at $156, includes one night hotel stay, two breakfast buffet passes and two admission passes
  • 2 adult admission passes to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, value $30, from an anonymous donor
  • Hand-forged trivet from the American Blacksmith Association of Burton OH donated by Bill Maki
  • Gift certificate for 2 regular dinners at Belgrade Gardens
  • 2 tickets to a 2007 performance of "Trumpet in the Land" or "The White Savage"
  • 2 coupons for a free appetizer (up to $7) at The 356th Fighter Group Restaurant
  • A Family Admission pass from Inventors Hall of Fame
  • 2 tickets for the October 10, 2006 exhibition game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics
  • Household Membership from Columbus Museum of Art ($65 value)
